How does the App work when I'm Driving?

When the phone is unlocked and you are driving 15+ mph, the Driver Unlock Alert will continue to appear until you Press the Phone Lock Button on the right side of your phone.

The quicker you lock your phone, the better…

Because your Daily Score will reflect the number of Alerts you receive throughout the day.

How does the App work when I’m a Passenger?

You can turn on Passenger Unlock by following this 3-Step process:

When Passenger Unlock is turned ON:

  • Any Alerts associated with the current unlock will not affect your score.

  • The Unlock Alerts are turned off for the remainder of your Trip.

Passenger Unlock is automatically turned OFF when a Trip Ends:

  • Trips end when you stop moving and walk away with your phone from the car.

  • If you receive a “Trip Ended” notification, you will need to turn Passenger Unlock ON again.

Daily, Trending, & Monthly Scores

Dailey Score

  • This score reflects the total unlock alerts you received the prior day.

  • It gives you daily feedback and helps you better understand your phone behavior as a driver.

  • 100 Score — means you had No Phone Unlocks recorded during any car trips the previous day

  • No Trips Logged — means No Car Trips were recorded with your phone for the previous day

  • Your Daily Score is not shared with your Family.

Trending Score

  • This Score is the average of you last five Daily Scores.

  • It helps you know if your Monthly Score is trending up or down.

  • A Trending Score greater than your Monthly Score means your phone habits are improving.

  • Your Trending Score is not shared with your Family.

Monthly Score

  • This Score is a 30-day average of your Daily Scores.

  • It summarizes your overall phone usage while driving and helps indicate the risk level of your phone behavior while driving.

  • Your Monthly Score is shared with your Family.

Because your Daily & Trending Scores are not shared with other Family drivers, the App gives you the information & time to change your phone habits before they are reflected in your Monthly Score.

Monthly Scores are shared with other Family drivers which creates an equal level of accountability among all drivers.

What is Driver Status? How does it work?

The Driver Status Feature helps each driver know whether or not the App is set up properly. It gives the driver the necessary information to correct a connection/setting to ensure the app is working in the background when in a car.

For the App to work correctly, it must be able to detect when you or another Family driver is in a car and/or driving.

Any App Status or Settings in Red must be corrected in order for the App to detect if a user is moving in a car.

Tap the Warning Sign to View Driver Detection Status & Settings

A Green Dot next to Driver’s name means their settings are correct.

If a Driver has a Red Dot & Warning Sign, then at least one iOS setting is turned off or the App has been “force closed” which means the App is not open in the foreground or background.

Get Driver Status History > tap a Driver on the Rankings Page to open their Summary page > tap Driver Status to see the Driver’s Bullet History and Details

Removing the Warning Sign — Open the App > Go to My Family page >Tap Warning Sign

What are the required iOS Settings for the App?

Avoiding Accidental Unlocks

Accidental unlocks do occur, but checking your phone’s Lock icon before and during trips will reduce and/or eliminate accidental unlocks.

Before you Start a Trip:

It’s a good habit to always check your phone’s home screen before you start driving.

If it’s open, just push the lock button on the right side before you start driving. The Lock icon at the top of your screen will confirm whether or not your phone is locked.

For iPhones with Face ID — Check to make sure your phone’s Lock icon is Locked

During a Trip:

If you hear a buzz or see an Unlock Notification while driving, push the lock button on the right side to stop the Notifications.

For iPhones with Face ID — Holding the phone toward your face while driving can cause your phone’s Lock icon to Unlock.

If using a Phone Holder, adjust the phone position to make sure your Face ID is not triggering an unlock.
